Rose Island Artist Residency 2024

Application Now Open

The Rose Island Lighthouse and Fort Hamilton Trust invites applications from Rhode Island-based artists working in any medium for a 6-night residency on Rose Island from September 16 – 22, 2024.

Up to 7 artists will stay in the island’s historic lighthouse buildings, have access to studio spaces located inside late 18th-century barracks, and have the opportunity to be inspired by the island’s natural environment and multi-layered history as they work on a project of their choice. The residency will kick off with a welcome event and tour of the island, and culminate in a public event, during which the residents will interact with visitors and discuss what they have worked on over the past week. Transportation to the island from Fort Adams in Newport, and all accommodation, is included; artists will be expected to provide their own food for the duration of their stay. Visit to learn more about the island.

  • Applications close on April 10, 2024
  • Artists will be notified by May 15, 2024
