Jewel of Rose Island. From 1870 until the 1969 construction of the Newport Bridge, the Lighthouse aided a century of mariners navigating the East Passage. Abandoned in 1970, it was ravaged by vandals and weather. Now, beautifully restored by RILF and friends, Lighthouse lots are highly prized by historians, boaters and romantics alike.
